Support the 2012 Art Hop of GLLF

PGS is a member of Greater Largo Library Foundation (GLLF) because it is a major financial supporter of our wonderful Largo Public Library. Anything we can do to support GLLF is ultimately to PGS' benefit as well.

5th Annual Art Hop and Taste Fest

The highly esteemed glass artist Duncan McCellan will be the featured collection at the March 24, 2012 Greater Largo Library Foundation Art Hop and Taste Fest. The exhibit collection will feature Duncan’s work and pieces of noted glass artist from around the world and will be displayed in the gallery of the Largo Public Library.

Our featured artists are Carolann Mancuso, Clearwater and David Braun, Clearwater. Carolann is an art instructor and has displayed her art at many local events and events throughout Florida.

David is owner of Preferred Custom Printing and is a photographer. David was born and raised in Pinellas County, Florida where he still resides and is a Largo High School graduate.

Our Rising Star Artists are Scott Durfee and George Medeiros, both of Saint Petersburg and of Spathos, LLC. Essentially self-taught, their interest in their chosen medium came about with the move to Florida. The palm spathe, with its majestic yet simple form, immediately captivated their artistic spirit.

The Art Hop will feature fine art of all different mediums from over 30 local artists, a Youth Art Exhibit by Largo High School and Elementary School students, and great food samples from local restaurants like Clearsky Beach Café, RG’s Restaurant and Bookmark Café, Texas Cattle Company, Cottage Cafe, and Coffee Gourmet.

Costumed actors from three theater groups — The 8 O’clock Theater, Francis Wilson Playhouse and the Westcoast Players — will be serving as guides and greeters.

Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Largo Public Library, and participants may “hop” to several local shops between 6 and 8 p.m. via free shuttle buses. We will be featuring the following businesses on the tour: Oscar’s Award Glass and Mirror, Focus Graphix, Hammerhead ACE Hardware, and the Amish Store. Each business will feature an artist and offer refreshments.

There will be a mellow-mood pianist and then a jazz band as entertainment at the Library, and participants can also bid on silent auction items, and win prizes at chance drawings and door prizes.

Individual tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. If you purchase a VIP ticket ($100 individual; $150 couple), your name will be included in the program and an invitation to our Thank You Dinner in April. You may purchase tickets at any of the Stops on the Art Hop, come by the Library, by calling the Greater Largo Library Foundation at 586-7398, or by contacting David Dellinger, PGS President at the Saturday meeting. Tickets are also available online at www.greaterlargolibraryfoundation.org
